Facing Propaganda and Election Challenges

Abidul Islam Khan, Vice President (VP) candidate of Chhatra Dal panel in Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election, said his group is being targeted with online smear campaigns.

He explained that misinformation and disinformation are spreading widely against them, but the Election Commission is failing to take any action.

Translation: “We are facing massive negative propaganda online.”

He added that such failures weaken the level playing field for all candidates and may create instability before the election.

Plans for Student Housing Crisis

When asked about student accommodation, Abidul said solving this crisis will be his first priority after the election. He promised both immediate temporary solutions and long-term actions.

Translation: “If elected, I will take this initiative very quickly. From the day after the election.”

Responding to Conspiracy Allegations

There are claims that Chhatra Dal does not want the election and was involved in legal moves to stop it. Abidul rejected these claims strongly.

Translation: “A writ was filed against one person… linking the entire election process with that writ means trying to stop the DU election.”

He said such actions are part of a conspiracy to destabilize the country and the university.

Hope for Fair Election

Abidul said he does not want to think about election rigging and believes a fair, peaceful, and transparent election should take place.

Translation: “We want to see an election free from the old political culture.”

Clarifying Viral Videos with Female Students

Abidul also responded to videos where some female students were seen walking away from him. He said this was due to the presence of media cameras, not because of him.

Translation: “The two or three who walked away did not do it because of me, but because they did not want to face the media.”

Ending Guestroom and Ganroom Culture

Abidul firmly promised that the harmful culture of guestroom and ganroom will never return. He said Chhatra Dal wants to focus on study, research, and building patriotic citizens instead.

Translation: “I myself was tortured in ganroom and came out of it. I joined politics with the pledge to uproot it.”

Chhatra Dal Represents a New Generation

When asked about past violence and allegations during 2001–2006, Abidul stressed that today’s Chhatra Dal is not responsible for that history.

Translation: “The past should not be used to frame Chhatra Dal or this generation.”

He said this generation of Chhatra Dal stood against long years of misrule and dictatorship and should be judged by their current actions.
