Former Member of Parliament Golam Maula Rony has made a sharp and sarcastic post on Facebook criticizing the removal of stones from the famous Sada Pathor (White Stone) area in Bholaganj, Sylhet. He accused so-called “patriotic people” of taking the stones away under the guise of doing good, which he says will harm the natural environment and could turn the country into a desert one day.
Background of the Incident
Bholaganj’s Sada Pathor area is a well-known natural tourist spot in Sylhet, famous for its crystal-clear river water and large white stones. Recently, reports have surfaced that many of these stones have been removed, allegedly by locals and groups claiming to act for the country’s benefit.
Rony’s Sarcastic Social Media Post
On Wednesday afternoon, Golam Maula Rony posted on his personal Facebook account, making a satirical remark about the incident.
“ভোলাগঞ্জের সাদাপাথর এলাকাটি হিজিবিজি হয়ে ছিল! দেশপ্রেমিক লোকজন অনেক কষ্ট করে মনের আনন্দে নিজ দায়িত্বে পাথর গুলো সরিয়ে নিয়ে গেছে! এখন পুরো এলাকা বালিতে চিক চিক করছে!”
Translation:
“The Sada Pathor area in Bholaganj was all messy! Patriotic people, with great effort and joy, have voluntarily taken away the stones! Now the whole area is sparkling with sand!”

Effect on River Flow
Rony further added that the removal of stones has also affected the river’s natural flow.
“নদীর প্রবাহ পথে যেসব পাথর ছিল সেগুলোও দেশপ্রেমিকরা সরিয়ে নিয়েছে! এই জন্য নদীর নাব্যতা বেড়ে গেছে! ফলে ভারত থেকে বিনা বাধায় এখন থেকে বেশি বেশি মাছ, পানি এবং পাথর আসা শুরু করেছে!”
Translation:
“The stones that were in the river’s flow path have also been removed by these patriots! This has increased the river’s navigability! As a result, from now on, more and more fish, water, and stones will come freely from India!”
Warning About Environmental Destruction
In his post, Rony warned that if similar activities continue across the country, the environmental consequences could be severe.
“ভোলাগঞ্জের সাদা পাথর অধ্যুষিত এলাকায় যেভাবে রিসেট বাটন চাপ দেওয়া হয়েছে ওভাবে যদি সারা দেশের নদ-নদী পাহার সমুদ্রে দেশপ্রেমিক জনতা তাদের কার্যক্রম চালাতে পারে তবে অচিরেই পুরো দেশ আরবের মরু অঞ্চলে পরিণত হবে! মরুভূমির নিচে তেল থাকবে! সেখানে হাজার হাজার উট-দুম্বা-ভেড়া চড়ে বেড়াবে! আর স্থানীয় লোকজন আরবদেশের কফিল হয়ে যাবে এবং ভারতীয়দের ভাড়া করে এনে সান্ডার খামার তৈরি করবে!”
Translation:
“The way the reset button has been pressed in the Sada Pathor area of Bholaganj, if the patriotic people can carry out similar activities in all the rivers, hills, and seas of the country, then very soon the whole country will turn into the Arabian desert! There will be oil under the desert! Thousands of camels, sheep, and goats will roam there! The local people will become sponsors in Arab countries, and they will rent Indians to set up ostrich farms!”
