According to Tajul Islam, the Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Sheikh Hasina attempted to maintain her position of authority even in her last moments by employing greater force and inflicting more deaths.
He presented portions of an official investigative report during a court hearing on Sunday, May 25, to convey this information.
Tribunal Presented with Full Report on Hasina and Awami League’s Actions
In the hearing, the Chief Prosecutor presented a full report about the actions of Sheikh Hasina, the Awami League, and its party members and activists during the events of July and August.
He said this report is a detailed record of their roles during that time.

Sheikh Rehana Begged Her Sister to Resign
According to the Chief Prosecutor, on August 5, Sheikh Rehana, the younger sister of Sheikh Hasina, went to Gono Bhaban (the Prime Minister’s residence) and held Hasina’s feet, asking her to resign.
Later, after family members explained the situation to her, Sheikh Hasina finally agreed to step down, said Tajul Islam.
Prosecutor Claims Hasina Committed Crimes Against Humanity
After the court session, the Chief Prosecutor spoke to the media outside the court. He said the report they submitted can prove, in any court in the world, that Sheikh Hasina committed crimes against humanity.
He added:
“We have all the required information and evidence needed to carry out a trial by international standards. Whatever is needed to prove these crimes, the prosecution has it.”
