Police Arrest Imran Chowdhury Akash in Abu Sayed Murder Case

On February 16, law enforcement agents captured fugitive Emran Chowdhury Akash in his arrest warrant from Gangapara village inside Islampur Upazila at the start of the day.

Police officers executed a raid at his house during the night because of an intelligence tip and ultimately captured Emran Chowdhury Akash when the raid took place at around 2 a.m. Law enforcement verified that Emran was among the 58 accused charged in the prominent murder of Abu Sayed in Rangpur district.

According to Md. Saifullah Saif, who is the Officer-in-Charge of Islampur Police Station, Emran Chowdhury Akash comes from Gangapara village and is the son of Shahin Shah Choudhury. The administrator previously served as the fourth Joint Secretary General of the Begum Rokeya University Chhatra League unit in Rangpur before attending his second year in the History and Archaeology department.

The authorities reported Emran disappeared following August 5, 2024, as the investigation began. The criminal arrest of Emran Chowdhury Akash signals a notable advancement in the murder investigation for Abu Sayed. The police force maintains an ongoing operation to capture other individuals involved in this criminal matter.
