Incident in Early Morning
A police constable of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was stabbed and robbed by a group of unidentified assailants in Jatrabari, Dhaka, early Monday (October 20). The attackers took his wallet and mobile phone before fleeing the scene.
“সাধারণডিমবিক্রিকরেআমরাকীভাবে ১৫ লক্ষকাস্টমারএনেছি—এইবইয়েআছেতারবাস্তবকাহিনি!”
The injured constable, Md. Russell Mia (31), serves at the CID Headquarters. His home is located in Rois Nagar, Jatrabari. He was later admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
Police Confirmed the Incident
Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed the matter based on doctors’ reports.
He said that the injured police member was brought to the emergency department early in the morning, and his treatment started immediately. The local police station has already been informed of the case.

Eyewitness Description
Nurul Islam, who brought Russell to the hospital, said he lives in the neighboring house of the police member.
He described the attack saying,
“আমি ওই পুলিশ সদস্যের পাশের বাড়িতে ভাড়া থাকি। আজ ভোর সাড়ে ৫টার দিকে যাত্রাবাড়ীর রায়েরবাগ এলাকা দিয়ে মোটরসাইকেলে যাচ্ছিলেন রাসেল। এ সময় অজ্ঞাত ৩ থেকে ৪ জন ছিনতাইকারী তার গতিরোধ করে এবং ছুরি দিয়ে হাতে আঘাত করে মানিব্যাগ ও মোবাইল নিয়ে যায়।”
Translation: “I live in a rented house next to the police officer’s home. Around 5:30 AM, Russell was riding his motorcycle through the Rayerbagh area of Jatrabari when 3 to 4 unidentified robbers stopped him, stabbed his hand, and took away his wallet and mobile phone.”
Immediate Medical Response
Police Constable Stabbed Nurul Islam’s further added,
“After hearing the news, we first took him to Rajarbagh Police Hospital. Later, for better treatment, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.”

Current Condition
According to hospital sources, Russell is currently under treatment at the DMCH emergency ward. His condition is stable, and doctors are monitoring him closely.
Police are investigating the incident to identify and arrest those involved in the attack and robbery.
