The Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RPM) has officially banned all police officers from using Facebook or any social media platform with their police identity. The instruction was given to ensure professionalism and responsible behaviour both online and offline.
RPM Commissioner’s Clear Message
The order was announced by RPM Commissioner Md. Majid Ali during a monthly welfare meeting held on Monday (June 30) at the Rangpur Police Lines. He asked all members of the force to follow the “Social Media Guidelines 2025” issued by the Bangladesh Police.
No Social Media Use with Police Identity
Commissioner Majid Ali clearly stated,
“No police member is allowed to use Facebook or other social media platforms under the identity of a police officer.”
He stressed that all officers must be careful when using social media and should act with caution and responsibility.

Officers Must Understand Online GD System
The Commissioner also mentioned that every member should have a good understanding of the online General Diary (GD) system, so that they can better serve the public. He underlined how crucial it is to use digital tools to improve services.
Call for Professionalism and Alertness
All police members were asked to carry out their duties with full professionalism and alertness. Additionally, the Commissioner urged everyone to focus on honing their professional abilities.
Listening to Officers and Solving Problems
At the start of the meeting, the Commissioner exchanged greetings with all present. He reviewed the progress on issues raised in the previous welfare meeting and listened to new problems from officers and staff. He gave immediate instructions to resolve several of those problems on the spot.
