BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the incident of murder in front of Midford Hospital is a matter for the investigation and uncovering of the law enforcement agencies. Those whose names were found in the BNP affiliate organizations in this incident were expelled from the party for life overnight.
He said,
গতকালের যে ঘটনা ঘটেছে এর সাথে রাজনীতির কোনো সম্পর্ক নেই। অথচ কোনো কোনো রাজনৈতিক দল দেখছি ওই ঘটনাকে রাজনৈতিক কালার দেওয়ার চেষ্টা করছে। এখানে দল কোথায় জড়িত, দলের নামধারী কেউ হতে পারে। এটাতো দলের পদ পদবি নিয়ে সংঘর্ষ হয়নি। দলের মতাদর্শ নিয়ে ঝগড়া হয়নি, ঝগড়া হচ্ছে তাদের ব্যবসা নিয়ে, এগুলো তাদের ব্যক্তিগত ব্যাপার।
Translation: The incident that happened yesterday has nothing to do with politics. However, I see some political parties trying to give a political color to the incident. Where is the party involved here, it could be someone with the party’s name. This is not a clash over party positions or titles. It is not a quarrel over the party’s ideology, the quarrel is over their business, these are their personal matters.
He made these remarks at the inauguration of a free medical camp in Uttara, the capital, on Saturday (July 12).
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also said,
যে নিহত হয়েছেন আর যারা ঘাতক তাদের মধ্যে ঝগড়া চলছে। এটি যুগ যুগ ধরে তারা করে আসছে এখন পট পরির্বতন হয়েছে ওয়ার্ড পর্যায়ের কেউ ব্যবসার সঙ্গে জড়িত হতে পারে, যা মহানগর বা কেন্দ্রীয় নেতারা জানেন না। কোনো ধরণের অপর্কম সংঘাত বা মানুষ হত্যায় যারা জড়িত তাদের ছাড় নেই। তারা মাটির গভীরে গেলে সেখানে থেকে ধরে এনে এমন দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপন করুন যাতে এ ধরণের ঘটনা না ঘটে।
Translation: There is a fight going on between those who were killed and those who are the killers. They have been doing this for ages, now the situation has changed, someone at the ward level can be involved in business, which the metropolitan or central leaders do not know. There is no exemption for those who are involved in any kind of unprovoked conflict or killing of people. If they go deep into the ground, catch them from there and set an example so that such incidents do not happen.
He further said,
দুই একটি রাজনৈতিক দল মিছিল করে বিএনপির ওপর দায় চাপানোর চেষ্টা করছে। আমরা যদি শেখ হাসিনার মতো নিশ্চুপ থাকতাম, অপরাধীদের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবস্থা না নিতাম, তাদের বহিস্কার না করতাম তাহলে এক কথা ছিল কিন্তু দল অবিলম্বে বিচার ও তীব্র নিন্দা জানিয়েছে। তাহলে আপনারা মিছিল করছেন কেন? মানে একটা রাজনৈতিক ফায়দা লোটার জন্য। আমরা আপনাদের অতীত অপকর্ম ভুলে যাইনি। আমরা ভুলে যাইনি সে রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, চট্রগ্রাম বিশ্বিবিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্রদের কিভাবে পায়ের রগ কেটেছে, কিভাবে বাসের ভিতর থেকে ছাত্রদল নেতাকে ধরে বিনোদপুর গ্রামে হত্যা করা হয়েছে, আপনাদের নৃশংতা, আপনাদের ভয়াবতা মানুষ ভুলে যায়নি।
Translation: Two political parties are trying to blame the BNP by holding a procession. If we had remained silent like Sheikh Hasina, had not taken action against the criminals, had not expelled them, then it would have been one thing, but the party has immediately condemned and strongly condemned. Then why are you holding a procession? It means to gain political benefits. We have not forgotten your past misdeeds. We have not forgotten how you cut the veins of the legs of students of Rajshahi University and Chittagong University, how you grabbed a Chhatra Dal leader from inside a bus and killed him in Binodpur village, your brutality, your fearsome people have not forgotten.
This leader of BNP said,
বিএনপির ইতিকাচক দিকগুলো উপক্ষো করে ফায়দা লুটের চেষ্টা করছেন তাতে কোনো লাভ হবে না।
Translation: Trying to exploit the BNP’s past successes by ignoring it will not help.
Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Aminul Haque, member secretary Mustafa Zaman, central leader Mahmur Rahman Sumon, metropolitan leader SM Jahangir, Kafiluddin and others were also present at the event.
