2 PRAN-RFL Subsidiaries Win Elite Green Factory Award: Benchmark in Green Industrial Leadership

Charka Textile Limited (CTL) and Habiganj Agro Limited (HAL) two distinguished concerns under the PRAN-RFL Group have been honored with the Green Factory Award 2025 for their outstanding commitment to sustainable industrial practices and exemplary worker welfare.

This coveted recognition celebrates the companies’ efforts in providing essential workplace facilities, including modern hygiene systems, child care centers, and breastfeeding corners for working mothers. These initiatives play a vital role in enhancing employee well-being and promoting sustainability within Bangladesh’s industrial sector.

The Green Factory Award 2025, organized under the ‘Green Factory Award Policy-2020’ by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, aims to acknowledge industrial establishments that uphold high standards in environmental responsibility, worker safety, and operational compliance.

A total of 30 industrial establishments across 16 sectors received the prestigious honor this year. The awards were presented during a formal ceremony held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Monday, June 23.

The event was graced by Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain, Advisor to the Ministry of Labor and Employment and Ministry of Shipping, as the chief guest.

Adilur Rahman Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Industries and Ministry of Housing and Public Works, attended as the special guest. The program was presided over by AHM Shafiquzzaman, Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

Omar Md. Imrul Mohsin, Inspector General of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments, delivered the welcome address, while Ardashir Kabir, President of the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), also spoke at the event.

Each awardee received a crest, a certificate, and a cash prize of Tk 1 lakh. A commemorative booklet titled ‘Green Factory Award-2025’ was unveiled during the ceremony.

The award program spanned a wide range of industries, celebrating eco-conscious innovation and sustainable infrastructure:

  • Shipbuilding & Shipbreaking: PHP Shipbreaking and Recycling Industries Ltd, KR Ship Recycling Yard (Chattogram), and Khulna Shipyard Ltd

  • Cement: Seven Circle (Bangladesh) Ltd (Gazipur)

  • Steel Mills: BSRM Steels Ltd (Chattogram)

  • Automobile: Pragati Industries Ltd (Chattogram)

  • Electrical & Electronics: Transcom Electronics Ltd, Fair Electronics Ltd (Narsingdi), Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd (Gazipur)

  • Food Processing: Akij Food and Beverage Ltd (Dhaka), Habiganj Agro Ltd (Habiganj)

  • Tea Industry: Jerin Tea Garden (Sreemangal), Mirzapur Tea Garden

  • Tiles & Ceramics: X Ceramics Ltd (Gazipur)

  • Cosmetics: Remark HB Ltd (Munshiganj), Square Toiletries Ltd (Narayanganj)

  • Pharmaceuticals: SKF Pharmaceuticals Ltd (Gazipur)

A Benchmark for Sustainable Industrial Growth

This government-led initiative reflects Bangladesh’s increasing focus on sustainable manufacturing and responsible labor practices. It encourages industries to go beyond compliance by integrating environmental stewardship and social responsibility into their core operations.

The recognition of CTL and HAL underlines PRAN-RFL Group’s leadership in advancing not just economic development, but also ethical and eco-friendly industrial growth.
