Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman announced in Parliament that every student and teacher will get a unique digital identity, called Edu-ID. This initiative aims to modernize the education system and reduce digital inequality across the country. The government has identified 43 key areas for educational improvement. Short, medium, and long-term plans are being implemented to ensure quality, inclusive, and life-oriented education for all.

The government plans to increase education spending gradually to 5% of GDP, as promised in the election manifesto. This will strengthen the education system and ensure more resources for students and schools.

Free School Uniforms and Mid-Day Meals

To improve primary education, the government will distribute free school uniforms to 200,000 students this fiscal year. Plans are also in place to expand school feeding programs (mid-day meals) in all upazilas to meet students’ nutritional needs.

Multimedia Classrooms and Free Internet Access

All primary, secondary, and equivalent schools will receive multimedia classrooms to help students compete globally. Around 1,500 institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, will have free Wi-Fi.

Technical and Vocational Education Expansion

The government plans to make technical education compulsory at the secondary level. New technical schools and polytechnic institutes will be established in all upazilas and districts. Additionally, 2,336 technical and 8,232 madrasa institutions will get free Wi-Fi, and smart classrooms will be introduced to modernize education.

ICT and AI Training for Students

Through the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), students will receive training in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Mobile App Development using Flutter, Python programming, and AI-based Digital Marketing over the next six months. The government emphasizes women’s education and empowerment. Each upazila headquarters will have a government-supported women’s college to ensure equal educational opportunities for girls and women. This plan reflects the government’s commitment to modern, inclusive, and digital education for all students in Bangladesh.
