As in previous years, Tarique Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and chief patron of “Amra BNP Poribar,” is providing Eid gifts to families affected by enforced disappearances, killings, and torture. Families of those who were martyred during the July student–public mass uprising are also receiving this Eid assistance.
From Tuesday (March 18), the Eid gift money is being distributed to affected families in every district. The initiative aims to reach victims’ families nationwide within a short time.

Official Statement
Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Atikur Rahman Rumon, stated that,
“প্রতিবছরই গুম, খুন ও নির্যাতিত পরিবারের জন্য ‘ঈদ উপহার’ দেন তারেক রহমান। গত ২০২৫ সাল থেকে জুলাই আন্দোলনে শহীদ পরিবারের মাঝেও যথাসাধ্য চেষ্টা করা হয় ‘ঈদ উপহার’ পৌঁছে দেওয়ার। এবারে নতুন সরকারের এক মাসে অনেক কাজ করছে। ‘ঈদ উপহার’ বিতরণে একটু দেরি হলেও তারেক রহমান তাদের ভুলে যাননি।”
Translation: “Every year, Tarique Rahman gives ‘Eid gifts’ to families of disappeared, murdered, and persecuted people. Since 2025, every effort has been made to deliver ‘Eid gifts’ to the families of martyrs in the July Movement. This time, the new government is doing a lot of work in one month. Although there was a slight delay in distributing ‘Eid gifts’, Tarique Rahman has not forgotten them.”
Background of the Initiative
It is noteworthy that since 2016, Tarique Rahman has been providing Eid gifts to affected families during the month of Ramadan as part of this humanitarian initiative. This year, approximately 1,900 families are receiving the Eid gift money.
Implementation Process
Regarding the distribution process, Member Secretary of “Amra BNP Poribar,” Moksedul Momin Mithun, said,
‘এবার প্রাথমিকভাবে পরিবারগুলোর কাছে ব্যাংক অ্যাকাউন্ট নেওয়ার কাজ শুরু হয়েছিল। তবে সময় কম থাকায় সেভাবে সম্ভব না হলেও অতি দ্রুত সময়ে বিএনপি ও এর অঙ্গসংগঠন এবং আমরা বিএনপি পরিবারের টিমের মাধ্যমে প্রতিটি জেলায় ঈদ উপহারের টাকা পৌঁছে যাচ্ছে।’
Translation: “This time, initially, the work of obtaining bank accounts from the families began. However, due to lack of time, it was not possible, but the money for Eid gifts is reaching every district very quickly through the BNP and its affiliated organizations and our BNP family team.”
