Iran has carried out the public execution of a man convicted of murdering four members of a family. The execution took place in the southern province of Fars, drawing attention from international media and human rights organizations. The convict’s wife is also sentenced to death, which will be carried out in prison.
Murder Conviction Leads to Public Hanging
According to state media, a man found guilty of killing four family members in Beiram, Fars province, was publicly executed on Tuesday (19 August 2025). The Iranian judiciary’s news portal, Mizan, reported:
‘ফারস প্রদেশের বেইরামে এক পরিবারের চার সদস্যকে নৃশংসভাবে হত্যায় দায়ী একজন অপরাধীকে মঙ্গলবার জনসমক্ষে ফাঁসি দেওয়া হয়েছে।’
Translation: “A person responsible for brutally murdering four members of a family in Beiram, Fars province, was hanged publicly on Tuesday.”

Iran’s Position on Death Penalty
Human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, note that Iran has the second-highest number of executions in the world after China. Typically, public hangings in Iran are carried out early in the morning.
Details of the Crime and Legal Process
According to Mizan, the accused and his wife murdered a mother and her three children during a robbery in October 2024.
‘প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়েছে, অভিযুক্ত ব্যক্তি ও তার স্ত্রী ২০২৪ সালের অক্টোবরে ডাকাতির সময় এক মা এবং তার তিন সন্তানকে হত্যা করেছিলেন।’
Translation: “According to report, the accused and his wife killed a mother and her three children during a robbery in October 2024.”
The couple was sentenced to death in February 2025, and the Supreme Court confirmed the verdict in April.
Wife’s Death Sentence Pending
Mizan also stated that the death sentence of the convict’s wife will be carried out in prison. However, no information has been provided about the exact date of her execution.
‘মিজান জানিয়েছে, ওই ব্যক্তির স্ত্রীর মৃত্যুদণ্ড কারাগারে কার্যকর করা হবে। কবে মৃত্যুদণ্ড দেওয়া হবে সে বিষয়ে কোনো তথ্য দেওয়া হয়নি।’
Translation: “Mizan reported that the death sentence of the accused’s wife will be carried out in prison. No information has been provided on the date of her execution.”
