Father of Main Accused Taken into Custody
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested Humayun, the father of the main accused shooter Faisal Karim Masud, in connection with the shooting of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson and Dhaka-8 independent election hopeful Sharif Osman Hadi.
The arrest was confirmed in a press release issued by RAB on Tuesday night (16 December).
Arrest Made in Narsingdi
According to RAB, Humayun was arrested from Narsingdi, at the residence of Faisal’s in-laws. During the operation, law enforcement officials also recovered three firearms that were allegedly used in the attempted killing.

RAB Said:
“ওসমান হাদিকে হত্যাচেষ্টার ঘটনায় মূল অভিযুক্ত শুটার ফয়সাল করিম মাসুদের বাবা হুমায়ুনকে ফয়সালের শ্বশুর বাড়ি নরসিংদী থেকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে। এসময় পুকুর থেকে হত্যাচেষ্টায় ব্যবহৃত তিনটি অস্ত্র উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে।”
Translation: “In connection with the attempted murder of Osman Hadi, the father of the main accused shooter, Faisal Karim Masud, Humayun, has been arrested from Faisal’s in-laws’ house in Narsingdi. During the operation, three weapons used in the attack were recovered from a pond.”
Case Still Under Investigation
RAB stated that further investigation is ongoing as part of the broader probe into the attack on Sharif Osman Hadi. Authorities have said they are continuing efforts to identify and apprehend all individuals linked to the incident.
