Renowned singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will headline a charity concert, Echoes of Revolution, on December 21 at Bangladesh Army Stadium, Dhaka. Organized by the student-led platform Spirits of July, the event aims to support families of martyrs and injured victims of the July student-led uprising. At a press conference held at Dhaka University’s Madhu’s Canteen, organisers announced that Khan agreed to perform without remuneration, ensuring all proceeds from the event go to the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation. Local bands Artcell, Chirkutt, Ashes, Aftermath, and rappers Sezan and Hannan will also perform for token fees.
In addition to musical performances, the concert will feature a graffiti exhibition, theatre productions, and a unique Mugdho Water Corner. Ticket sales begin in early December, with prices and categories to be announced soon.
An advisory group made up of notable individuals and instructors from Dhaka University will supervise financial transparency. Prime Bank is sponsoring the event, and Dhaka University officials are supporting it. This program is a sincere attempt to help impacted families and remember those who gave their lives during the historic rebellion.
