The Accident at Binodpur Bazar
A tragic road accident took place on Wednesday night (September 3) around 11:30 pm near Binodpur Bazar on the Dhaka–Rajshahi highway. An auto-rickshaw lost control due to brake failure while taking a U-turn and crashed into a motorcycle.
On the motorcycle were two students, including Iftekharul Islam, a 24-year-old student of Rajshahi University’s English department. The collision caused him to be thrown off the bike and fall on the road, suffering severe injuries.

Victim’s Identity
The deceased student has been identified as Iftekharul Islam, son of Iman Ali, a resident of New Market area in Dhaka. He was studying in his fourth year at the English Department of Rajshahi University.
Immediate Rescue and Death
Witnesses said fire service personnel quickly rushed to the spot and rescued the injured Iftekharul. He was taken to the emergency unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead soon after his arrival.
Police Action
Police confirmed that the auto-rickshaw driver has been arrested in connection with the accident. Investigations are ongoing to find out more details about how the incident happened.
Reaction from University Teachers
Professor Dr. Mominul Islam, head of the English Department at Rajshahi University, expressed deep shock over the death of his student.
He said:
After the accident, Iftekharul Islam was taken to Rajshahi Medical Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. His family has been informed of his death.
