The Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) will roll out the Rapid Pass smart ticketing system on all Hatirjheel circular buses from July 20, 2025, to ease and modernize daily commutes.
This comes after a week-long trial phase that began on July 14, aimed at fine-tuning the system for smooth operations. Dhrubo Alam the Deputy Transport Planner at DTCA, shared that the initiative has been carefully planned to ensure commuters benefit from a cashless, hassle-free experience.
The launch was marked by the presence of senior government officials and key players from the transport sector, underscoring the significance of this step towards a more modern public transport network.

The technical side of the project has been handled by Datasoft, ensuring the system is equipped with up-to-date and reliable infrastructure.
But that’s not all—DTCA also plans to extend the Rapid Pass service to Dhaka Chaka buses, especially the Gulshan to Police Plaza route, starting August. The broader goal is to simplify fare payments for thousands of people who rely on city buses every day, making public transport in Dhaka smarter, faster, and more accessible.
