Remittances gained momentum once the interim government assumed power. In the first twelve days of October, remittances totaling $986.04 million entered the nation through legitimate channels, according to the most recent report released by Bangladesh Bank on Monday, October 14. This amount is equivalent to 11,840 crores in local currency, indicating an average of $82.22 million, or 987 crore taka, received daily. During this period, $245.6 million was transferred through state-owned banks, $44.48 million through a specialized bank, $693.6 million through private banks, and $2.64 million through international banks, as analyzed from the central bank’s data. Notably, no remittances were sent by expatriates through 11 banks. Bangladesh Bank officials stated that the pace of remittances has been strong since the beginning of September. With this trend continuing, remittances totaled over $240 million last month. If this pattern persists, it may exceed $250 million in the current month.
