Bangladesh receives $2.97 billion in remittances in May 2025 the second-highest monthly inflow in the nation’s history, according to recent data from Bangladesh Bank. This powerful surge comes just ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, as Bangladeshi expatriates sent generous amounts to support their families during the festive season.
Compared to May 2024, when remittances totaled $2.25 billion, this year’s May figure marks an impressive 31.7% year-on-year growth. Over the first 11 months of the 2024–25 fiscal year (July to May), total remittances have reached $27.51 billion a 28.7% increase from the $21.37 billion received during the same period last year.

The record for the highest single-month remittance still stands with March 2025, when the country received $3.29 billion, just before Eid-ul-Fitr. This continued momentum highlights the vital role of migrant workers in strengthening Bangladesh’s economy, especially during religious festivals when family support is critical.
