According to the most recent data from Bangladesh Bank during the first 15 days of February USD 1,312.22 million (Tk 16,008.84 crore) was sent to Bangladesh. This amounts to USD 87.4 million (Tk 1,065.08 crore) on average every day. Of the entire remittance, USD 88.79 million (Tk 1,083.24 crore) was enabled by specialized banks, while USD 466.55 million (Tk 5,693.91 crore) was handled by state-owned banks. While foreign banks handled only USD 3 million (Tk 36.6 crore), private commercial banks took the largest portion, putting in USD 753.9 million (Tk 9,197.58 crore). Bangladesh had a remittance flow of USD 186.4 million (Tk 2,274.08 crore) on February 1st alone. Foreigners sent USD 652.32 million (Tk 7,967.10 crore) during the week of 2 February to 8 February, while USD 641.27 million (Tk 7,827.99 crore) was received during the week of 9 February to 15 February. A vital source of foreign cash for the nation, the consistent remittance flow helps to stabilize the economy in the face of external financial difficulties.
