RMG exports to US grow after two years

The American market is growing with the diminishing of high-cost pressure after a gap of two years, as the sales of apparel garments exported to the US have developed year-on-year in 2024. Garment shipment to the US is increasing by 0.75% to 7.34 billion.

The previous year, that means from January to December, Bangladesh’s garment exports to the US developed by 0.75 percent to $7.34 billion, based on data from the US Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA).

Due to the numerous fallouts of covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war, Bangladesh’s garment exports to the US had decreased.

However, the current month, exports to the US, were highlighting toughness in shipments, as well as finally coming to the hopeful territory in last year’s December. Bangladesh also accomplished a 4.86 percent expansion in export volume.

Although, similar to the whole market trend, Bangladesh faced a 3.94 percent reduction in the until price, which had a direct effect on profitability.

The last year’s data report said the US’s total apparel imports developed by 1.71 percent to $77.92 billion.

Also, year-over-year, China was the biggest apparel supplier, registering 0.79 percent growth to 16.50 billion.
