Robbery incident on a moving bus
In a thrilling incident at around 12 midnight on Sunday in the Customs More area of Chittagong City, a hijacker who had come on board as a passenger was caught red-handed. He was caught by the passengers while trying to rob a mobile phone on a moving bus. The name of the arrested hijacker has been identified as Akbar Hossain (24). However, it is learnt that his three accomplices fled the scene.

Passengers’ account of the incident
Passenger Arif Hossain, who was the victim of the incident, said that he was returning home in a city service bus. He was watching YouTube on his headphones while sitting in his seat. Suddenly, a person standing next to him suddenly took his mobile phone.
Then, when the bus door was closed and the passengers were asked to check their mobile phones, the accused Akbar tried to get off by leaving the mobile phone in the hands of a passenger. When he was stopped, he got angry and took out a knife and stabbed the driver’s assistant.

Assistant stabbed, but still a brave move by the driver
The bus assistant was injured in Akbar’s attack. However, the driver showed immense courage – he did not stop the bus. Instead, he took the moving bus straight to the Bandar Police Station. The police arrived there and arrested the accused Akbar Hossain.
Police statement and further action
Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aftab Uddin said,
ছিনতাইয়ের ঘটনায় থানায় মামলা হয়েছে। পলাতক বাকি তিন ছিনতাইকারীকে গ্রেপ্তারে অভিযান চলছে।
Translation: A case has been filed with the police station regarding the robbery. A drive is underway to arrest the remaining three fugitive robbers.
