Hasnat’s comments at a courtyard meeting in Bijoynagar
After the recent political war of words, there are indications that the relationship between BNP’s Central Executive Committee’s Joint International Affairs Secretary Rumeen Farhana and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) Southern Region Chief Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah has started to cool down.
Hasnat himself revealed the matter while speaking as the chief guest at a courtyard meeting on the ‘new constitution’ at Chhatarpur School Ground in Bijoynagar, Brahmanbaria on Saturday night.
Indications of clearing misunderstandings
Hasnat said,
‘আমাদের মধ্যে কিছু ভুল বোঝাবুঝি ছিল। কিন্তু তিনি লোক পাঠিয়ে খোঁজ নিয়েছেন এবং উপহারও দিয়েছেন। এটি একটি ইতিবাচক বার্তা, আমরা অবশ্যই স্বাগত জানাই।’
Translation:“There were some misunderstandings between us. But he sent people to inquire and also gave gifts. This is a positive message, we certainly welcome it.”
Previous dispute
Earlier, after an incident that took place at the Election Commission building, there were sharp exchanges of comments between the two parties. Later, criticism continued on social media and talk shows.

Message of reform and unity
Hasnat, referring to political reform and the judiciary, said,
‘শুধু নির্বাচন নয়, সংস্কার এবং বিচারও জরুরি। এজন্য সবাইকে ঐক্যবদ্ধ হতে হবে।’
Translation:“Not only elections, but also reform and justice are important. For this, everyone must unite.”
Nurul Haque Nur’s topic
Taking the topic of the attack on Nurul Haque Nur, he further said,
‘এই ঘটনা আমাদের জন্য সতর্কবার্তা। আমরা দেখেছি অতীতে তারেক রহমানকেও মুচলেকা দিয়ে দেশ ছাড়তে হয়েছিল
Translation:“This incident is a warning message for us. We have seen that in the past, Tarique Rahman also had to leave the country on bail.”
