Russia has suggested resuming direct air travel with the United States, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday. Russia presented the proposal about direct air travel during meetings in Turkey but the United States has not provided any reaction thus far.
The U.S.-Russia airline route disappeared in 2022 due to Western countries activating economic restrictions on Russia during its Ukrainian invasion. The travel restrictions between Russia and the United States have maintained their current state because of which flights operate indirectly through foreign nations.
Both countries actively work to normalize diplomatic relations while seeking solutions for their main bilateral matters during these current talks. Russia anticipates restarting flights but the response from Washington toward this proposal remains unclear.
