Home Adviser Dismisses ‘Safe Exit’ Speculations
Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has denied recent claims that advisers of the interim government are seeking a safe exit. Speaking to journalists after a meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order on Sunday (October 12), he said he has no reason to leave the country since all his children are living in Bangladesh.
“ছেলে-মেয়ে দেশে, আমি একা সেফ এক্সিট নিয়ে কী করব?”
Translation: “My children are in the country, so what will I do alone with a safe exit?”
He clarified that what someone wants is a personal matter, but for him, the question of leaving does not arise.
“কে কী চায় সেটা তার ব্যক্তিগত বিষয়। আমার ছেলেমেয়ে সবাই দেশে। আমি একা সেফ এক্সিট নিয়ে কী করব?”
Translation: “What someone wants is their personal matter. My children are all in the country. What will I do alone with a safe exit?”

On Recovery of Missing Weapons
When asked about missing weapons, the adviser said that he would discuss the matter with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and might provide an update in the next meeting.
He also assured that the administration is working to ensure no one creates instability during the upcoming national elections.
Measures to Maintain Law and Order
Jahangir Alam explained that not all weapons are recovered immediately, and that is why law enforcement agencies are necessary to maintain peace.
“সব অস্ত্র সব সময় উদ্ধার হয় না, কিছু অস্ত্র তো বাইরে থাকে। এজন্যই তো আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর প্রয়োজন হয়।”
Translation: “Not all weapons are recovered at once; some remain outside. That’s why law enforcement agencies are needed.”

He expressed optimism that the elections would be held smoothly if Allah wills.
“কোনো ধরনের অসুবিধা নেই। আল্লাহ চাইলে ভালোভাবে নির্বাচন হবে।”
Translation: “There is no problem. If Allah wills, the election will take place peacefully.”
Legal Action on Accused Army Members
When asked whether the accused army personnel would be tried while in military custody, the adviser said the process would follow the law.
“আইনে যেটা আছে, সেটাই করা হবে।”
Translation: “Whatever is stated in the law, that will be followed.”
