Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) Standing Committee, has stated that they demanded a election roadmap f, not the resignation of anyone. He remarked that the people of the country have already witnessed the drama of resignations. What they sought was a clear and concrete election roadmap by December.
He made these remarks on Wednesday (May 28) during a “Youth Gathering” organized in front of the BNP central office at Nayapaltan in the capital. Salahuddin Ahmed said, “We speak out for democracy if that is considered a crime, then it’s a crime we will continue to commit again and again.
We hope this government will uphold the rule of law. The court’s verdict should be implemented, and Ishraq Hossain must be sworn in accordingly. A roadmap must be announced for the upcoming election.” He added, “Otherwise, if the people of this country are forced to take to the streets for democracy and fair elections against this interim government, it will become a tragic chapter in history.”

Highlighting attempts to create division within the anti-fascist national unity, Salahuddin Ahmed alleged that “we are on the verge of forgetting the oppression, abductions, and killings by the Awami League. But the people of this country have shed blood for the establishment of democracy and the rule of law.”
He further stated, “The rule of law is now under threat. Court verdicts are not being executed. We envision a state where fascism and neo-autocracy can never rise again.”
