Salman Shah’s Death Reclassified as Murder
The mysterious death of popular 1990s actor Salman Shah on 6 September 1996, long considered a suicide by his former wife Samira Haque, has been officially reclassified as a murder case after 29 years. The court ordered the case to be converted to a murder trial on 20 October 2025, and within 24 hours, Salman Shah’s uncle, Alamgir Kumkum, filed a murder case with Ramna Police Station.
Accused’s 1997 Confession
A renewed investigation highlighted a 1997 confession by accused Rezvi Ahmed Farhad, in which he admitted:
“আমরা সালমান শাহকে হত্যা করেছি। হত্যার ঘটনাকে আত্মহত্যা বলে সাজানো হয়েছে। এই হত্যাকাণ্ডে সামিরা ও তার পরিবারসহ অনেকে জড়িত।”
Translation: “We killed Salman Shah. The murder was staged as a suicide. Many, including Samira and her family, were involved in this crime.”

Rezvi described the killing as a 12 lakh Taka contract, orchestrated by Latifa Haque Lucy, Salman Shah’s former mother-in-law. The contract also involved Bangladeshi film villains Don, David, Faruk, and Javed.
The Murder Plot
According to Rezvi, on 5 September 1996, the conspirators met at a bar in Gulistan to finalize the plan. Samira’s mother provided an initial 2 lakh Taka, with a total payment of 12 lakh Taka promised.
“সাধারণ ডিম বিক্রি করে আমরা কীভাবে ১৫ লক্ষ কাস্টমার এনেছি—এই বইয়ে আছে তার বাস্তব কাহিনি!”
He stated that on the night of the murder, Don, David, Faruk, Aziz Bhai, and Rezvi went to Salman Shah’s home. Samira chloroformed the sleeping actor while others carried out the brutal attack.
“ঘুমন্ত সালমানকে ক্লোলোফর্ম দিয়ে বেহুশ করেন সামিরা। কিছুক্ষণ পর সালমান শাহর জ্ঞান ফিরলে শুরু হয় ধস্তাধস্তি। এ সময় সালমান শাহর শরীরে ইনজেকশন পুশ করতে বলেন আজিজ ভাই। সালমানকে হত্যা করার পর সিলিং ফ্যানে ঝুলিয়ে দেওয়া হয় তার লাশ।”
Translation: “Samira rendered the sleeping Salman Shah unconscious with chloroform. When he regained consciousness, a struggle ensued. Aziz Bhai instructed to push injections into his body. After killing him, they hung his body from a ceiling fan.”
