Sarah Cook stated,
“Even after 2029, almost 92 percent of products exported from Bangladesh—including ready-made garments—will retain duty-free entry into the UK market. This will play an essential role in diversifying Bangladesh’s export market.”
She further explained,
“This decision proves that the United Kingdom is keen on expanding trade with Bangladesh in the long term and wants to further strengthen future economic relations.”
This significant update offers a major boost to Bangladesh’s export sector, especially as the country prepares for its post-LDC transition. The continued duty-free benefits will help sustain competitive strength in the UK market, encourage product diversification, and create new opportunities for exporters.
