Online Classes
Highlights
  • Government plans to introduce a hybrid class system in all educational institutions
  • Students will attend 3 days online and 3 days in person each week
  • Decision taken in an emergency meeting of the Ministry of Education
  • Final approval will be presented in the upcoming cabinet meeting on Thursday

Decision Taken in Emergency Meeting

The Ministry of Education has decided that all educational institutions will conduct online classes for three days a week due to the ongoing global energy crisis. The remaining three days will continue with in-person classes. This decision was made during an emergency meeting held on Tuesday (31 March).

Hybrid System Under Consideration Earlier

Earlier, the education minister had already hinted at possible changes in the teaching system. He said that discussions were ongoing about introducing a combination of online and offline classes at the school level to deal with the global fuel shortage. The proposal will be formally presented in the cabinet meeting scheduled for Thursday.

Reasons Behind the New Plan

The minister explained that several class hours were lost in recent months due to:

  • Ramadan holidays
  • various protests and movements
  • other disruptions

To make up for the lost academic time, schools are currently operating six days a week. However, the global energy crisis has forced authorities to reconsider the teaching method and move towards a hybrid education system.

Public Opinion Survey on Online Classes

According to the minister, a survey was conducted to understand public opinion. The results showed that around 55% of respondents supported shifting to online classes. Despite this, the government does not want to move completely to online learning. The minister warned that if education becomes fully online, students may become less social and disconnected from real-life interaction. The proposal for hybrid classes will now be placed before the cabinet. After approval, the new system is expected to be implemented in all schools, colleges, and other educational institutions across the country.
