The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has suspended Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan after independent testing at Loughborough University earlier this month revealed that his bowling motion was unlawful, according to ESPNCricinfo.
Shakib is prohibited from bowling in any ECB-organized contests as a result of the suspension, which formally started on December 10.
In order to get the suspension overturned, Shakib, who last played for Bangladesh in international cricket during the September–October series against India, would have to submit to an independent evaluation and show that his elbow extension maintains below the 15-degree maximum allowed by the rules.
When the left-arm spinner made his only debut for Surrey against Somerset in the County Championship from September 9–12, the umpires questioned his actions. In the game, Shakib bowled 63 overs and took nine wickets.
On-field umpires Steve O’Shaughnessy and David Millns subsequently judged his bowling action questionable, despite the fact that he was never no-balled for throwing.
The all-round player is presently playing with the Galle Marvels in the Lanka T10.
