Bangladeshi superstar Shakib Khan will portray the late Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan in a new full-length feature film based on true events. This will be Shakib’s first time playing an army officer in his 26-year career.

Major Sinha was a former officer of the Bangladesh Army who tragically lost his life on 31 July 2020 in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. He was killed in what was later revealed to be a planned attack by police. The incident sparked nationwide outrage and led to a highly publicized investigation, during which many shocking facts came to light.

The Story Behind the Film

Inspired by these real events, a new film is set to be made depicting the life and final days of Major Sinha. While the movie will be based on true events, the director mentioned there will be some adjustments to the storyline for cinematic purposes.

Shakib Khan’s First Army Role

The biggest highlight is that Shakib Khan, the most celebrated actor in Dhallywood, will take on the role of Major Sinha. This marks the first time in his 26-year acting career that Shakib will wear the uniform and play a military officer.

Direction and Production Details

The movie will be directed by Shakib Fahad, a well-known advertisement filmmaker, and this will be his first feature film. Shooting is scheduled to begin in September 2025. The release will not be during Eid but rather on a regular Friday later in the year.

Director’s Statement

The director told the media:

“সিনেমাটি সত্য ঘটনা অবলম্বনে হলেও কাহিনিতে কিছুটা কাটছাঁট থাকবে। তবে দেশপ্রেম, অ্যাকশন এবং মানবিক আবেগ—সব মিলিয়ে এটি হবে একটি শক্তিশালী গল্পের সিনেমা।”
Translation: “Although the movie is based on true events, there will be some edits in the story. But it will combine patriotism, action, and human emotions, making it a powerful story-driven film.”
