Murder Case Finally Solved
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has solved the mystery of the murder of 27-year-old Liton Mia, whose body was found in a paddy field in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar. On Monday (15 September), Shamim Ahmed, the main suspect, was presented in court where he confessed under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The information was confirmed by Zafar Hossain, Superintendent of Police (Additional DIG) of Moulvibazar PBI.

Arrest and Confession
On Sunday afternoon, a PBI team arrested Shamim from Rajnagar police station area. During his statement in court, Shamim admitted that he killed Liton because Liton used to harass his sister.
Shamim told the magistrate:
“তার বোনকে লিটন উত্ত্যক্ত করতো। এছাড়া এলাকায় বখাটেপনা ও চুরিচামারির সঙ্গেও জড়িত ছিল লিটন। এসব কারণে ৭-৮ জন মিলে তাকে হত্যা করা হয়।”
Translation: “Liton used to harass his sister. He was also involved in misbehaviour and theft in the area. For these reasons, 7–8 people together killed him.”
Police Efforts to Arrest Others
Zafar Hossain further said that operations are still going on to arrest the other accused persons who were involved in this brutal killing.
Background of the Case
On 9 September morning, police recovered Liton’s throat-slit body from near a mosque at Paschim Nandogram village in Patanushar Union of Kamalganj upazila. The victim Liton was the son of Sattar Mia, a resident of the same village.
