Shocking Crime in Dupchanchia: Son Kills Mother Over Money, Body Hidden in Freezer

According to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), a son killed his mother in Dupchanchia, Bogura, in a sad episode involving arguments over pocket money and a sexual relationship. The son concealed his mother’s body in the house’s deep freezer following the murder. Using technology support and further evidence, RAB captured the son on Monday night at midnight. RAB-12’s company commander in Bogura, Major Md. Ehteshamul Haque Khan, provided a press conference on Tuesday morning outlining the incident’s specifics.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the intricate dynamics of family ties and the grave repercussions of mental stress in the home.
Sad Bin Azizur Rahman, 19, the person who was detained, is a student at the Darussunnah Kamil Madrasa in Dupchanchia. He is the younger son of Azizur Rahman, who serves as both the Khatib of the Upazila mosque and the madrasa’s vice principal. The body of Umme Salma Khatun, 50, Azizur Rahman’s wife, was discovered in their home’s deep freezer on Sunday afternoon. The “Azizia Manzil” apartment in the Upazila headquarters’ Joypurpara neighborhood has smashed cabinets and scattered possessions.
Salma Khatun and Azizur Rahman are parents to a girl and two sons. The daughter and older son reside in Dhaka.
The Khatib, Azizur Rahman, is a well-liked notable person in the community. This occurrence at his home, which was in a busy neighborhood during the day, created confusion and made the residents fearful of theft.

“After talking with the family, RAB discovered that 500 to 1,000 taka would vanish from the house almost daily and that Salma Khatun and her son Sad had ongoing arguments over his pocket money,” the company commander of RAB-12 Bogura said in a news briefing on Tuesday.
“On the day of the incident, Sad angrily left for the madrasa without eating breakfast after arguing with his mother over pocket money in the morning.”
According to Major Ehteshamul, the inquiry was centered on identifying the murderer in light of these facts.
“Mobile tracking indicated that the mother and son were in the same location at the approximate time of the murder,” he added. CCTV footage also showed that the victim’s son was the only suspect that day.
Sad was captured from his grandfather’s home in the Panch Pir Arobari neighborhood of the neighboring Kahalu Upazila later on Monday night. The RAB commander said that Sad confessed to murdering his mother during questioning.
“Sad also had arguments with his mother about a romantic relationship and he probably gambled, which resulted in daily arguments over money,” he continued.
When Sad went home after his madrasa break at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, he noticed his mother, Salma, chopping vegetables, according to RAB officer Ehteshamul, who described the murder’s circumstances. Following his planned course of action, Sad came up behind his mother and covered her mouth and nose.
One day, while his mother battled to rescue herself, Sad’s finger came into contact with the vegetable-cutting knife and got a little cut beneath the index finger. He nonetheless kept suffocating his mother by holding her lips.
Sad then wrapped a scarf over his mother’s hands and put her body in the house’s deep freezer. He repeatedly pounded the cabinet with an axe and strewn possessions all around the room to give a sense that it had been looted.

“After locking the house’s main gate, he left.” He came back a time later and told his father that his mother had gone away.
Regarding this incident, Dupchanchia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Faridul Islam stated on Tuesday at around 4:30 p.m. that the victim’s elder son, Nazmus Saqib, had filed a case against unknown suspects in connection with his mother Umme Salma’s murder. RAB has since arrested the younger son, Sad Bin Azizur Rahman, for the murder, though he has not yet been handed over to the police.

The OC further stated that once Sad is handed over, he will be sent to court.
