Because of heavy raining, gusty winds, and tidal waves caused by a low-pressure system have severely disrupted power supply in various parts of the country, directly impacting the country’s telecommunications sector.More than 5,000 mobile network towers have been shut down due to a lack of power. As a result, customers in many areas have suffered greatly from call, SMS and internet services.
Around 10 am on Friday, Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor post on from his Facebook page and said,
“Telecommunication services have been disrupted in various parts of the country due to the impact of natural disasters such as low-pressure storms and tidal waves, and power supply systems. Telecommunication service providers including Palli Vidyut are working tirelessly to restore the network.”
He said,
“Severe rains affected telecom sites and over 5000 sites down due to power outages.
Currently Barisal, Sylhet South, Tangail, Chandpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka North, Comilla, Noakhali & Chittagong South Regions are severely impacted.”

Reason Behind the Incident
On Thursday, A deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal. Due to its impact, heavy rains have been occurring in vast areas of the country, including the capital, since yesterday. The deep depression has now turned into a land depression. Today it will turn into a low pressure. That is, its strength will decrease a lot by today. However, due to its influence, it will rain throughout the day today.

Rain is likely to continue in various parts of the country tomorrow, Saturday as well. The Meteorological Department has said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in at least five divisions of the country today due to the influence of this low pressure.
