Convocation Dedicated to Osman bin Hadi
The 7th Convocation of State University of Bangladesh was officially dedicated to Osman bin Hadi. The convocation began at 11:00 am on Sunday (21 December).
The dedication was announced by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain Khan, while delivering the welcome speech at the ceremony.
Tributes and Mourning at the Event
Various banners and festoons were displayed across the venue with writings in memory of Osman Hadi. At the beginning of the convocation, the university observed one minute of silence to pay respect to him.
At the venue, banners expressed deep sorrow and condolences over the passing of Sharif Osman bin Hadi, and extended heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Convocation Earlier Postponed
Earlier, on Saturday (20 December), the 7th convocation of State University of Bangladesh was postponed following the declaration of state mourning.
University authorities stated that the decision was taken out of respect for the state mourning announced by the government.
Degrees and Awards
At this year State University’s convocation:
- 672 students from 10 departments received undergraduate and postgraduate degrees
- 3 students received the Chancellor’s Gold Medal
- 4 students received the Vice-Chancellor’s Silver Medal
- 20 students received the Dean’s Award
Convocation Leadership and Guests
The convocation ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul, Adviser to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, representing the President of Bangladesh, who is also the Chancellor of universities.
The State University Convocation Speaker was Professor Dr. S. M. A. Fayez, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Announcement of Osman Hadi’s Death
Earlier, on the night of 18 December, the death of Osman Hadi was announced through his verified Facebook page.
At 9:44 pm, a post stated:
“ভারতীয় আধিপত্যবাদের মোকাবিলায় মহান বিপ্লবী ওসমান হাদিকে আল্লাহ শহিদ হিসেবে কবুল করেছেন।”
Translation: “Allah has accepted the great revolutionary Osman Hadi as a martyr in the struggle against Indian hegemony.”
Who Was Osman Hadi
Osman Hadi was shot on 12 December after Jummah prayers in the Box Culvert area of Bijoynagar, Dhaka. He was born in 1993.
He was known as a political activist and speaker, and served as the spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, a political-cultural platform formed after the July mass uprising.
Osman Hadi had also announced his intention to contest the 13th National Parliamentary Election from Dhaka-8 constituency.
