Tamim Iqbal withdraws
Former Bangladesh cricket team captain and star batsman Tamim Iqbal is not participating in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections. He announced the withdrawal of his nomination papers on Wednesday (October 1).
Allegations of irregularities in the elections
While talking to journalists, Tamim said,
আপনারা বড় গলায় ক্রিকেটে ফিক্সিং বন্ধ করতে বলেন, তার আগে নির্বাচনের ফিক্সিং বন্ধ করুন। পরে ক্রিকেটেরটা বন্ধ করবেন।
Translation: You are loudly calling for an end to fixing in cricket, but first stop fixing in elections. Then stop fixing in cricket.

Tamim’s disappointment with the election
Addressing the cricket board staff, Tamim said,
এভাবে যদি নির্বাচন করতে চান তাহলে করতে পারেন, জিততেও পারেন। কিন্তু আজ থেকে ক্রিকেট ১০০ শতাংশ হেরে গেছে—এটা নিয়ে কোনো সন্দেহ নেই।
Translation: “If you want to hold elections like this, you can do it, you can even win. But from today, cricket has lost 100 percent—there is no doubt about that.”
He also said,
এই নির্বাচন আয়োজন বিসিবির জন্য কালো দাগ হয়ে গেলো। এর সঙ্গে যারা যুক্ত আছেন, তারাও বুঝতে পারেন, এটা কোনোভাবেই নির্বাচন ছিল না।
Translation: This election campaign has become a black mark on the BCB. Even those involved in it understand that it was not an election in any way.

On future election issues
Tamim said that he will speak on the election issue in the future,
আমার কাছে মনে হয়, এখানে স্পষ্ট বোঝা যায় নির্বাচনে কারা কী ধরনের সম্পৃক্ততা রেখেছেন, কী ধরনের হস্তক্ষেপ হয়েছে। এর সঙ্গে কারা জড়িত—তা সুস্পষ্টভাবে পরিষ্কার। এখন না, তবে ভবিষ্যতে ইনশাআল্লাহ অবশ্যই এ বিষয়ে কথা বলবো।
Translation: I think it is clear here who has what kind of involvement in the election, what kind of interference has taken place. It is clear who is involved in this. Not now, but in the future, God willing, I will definitely speak on this issue.
He also said,
আজকে আমাদের মনোনয়ন প্রত্যাহার করেছি। আমিসহ প্রায় ১৪-১৫ জনের মতো প্রত্যাহার করেছি। এবং কারণটা খুবই পরিস্কার। এখানে আমার কাছে মনে হয় না যে আমাকে খুব বিস্তারিত ব্যাখ্যা করে আপনাদেরকে কোন কিছু বলার আছে।
Translation: Today we withdrew our nominations. About 14-15 people including me withdrew. And the reason is very clear. I don’t think I have to explain anything in detail here.
Election Schedule and Process
Regarding this, the BCB elections will be held on October 6. According to the BCB constitution, the election of the Board of Directors is held in three categories. Ten directors are elected from districts and divisions by the votes of the councilors of their respective divisions.
