“Stop Hypocrisy, Sir”— Hasnat to Asif Nazrul over Nurul Haque Nur Violence

Dr. Asif Nazrul Condemns Attack

Law adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul strongly condemned the violent attack on former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur through a Facebook post. He wrote:

“ভিপি নুরুল হক নূরের ওপর বর্বরোচিত হামলার তীব্র নিন্দা ও প্রতিবাদ জানাচ্ছি।”
Translation: “I strongly condemn and protest the brutal attack on VP Nurul Haque Nur.”

Reply from Hasnat Abdullah

However, the post drew a sharp response from NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah. He openly criticized Dr. Nazrul by commenting under his post:

“প্রতিবাদের কাজ আপনার? ভণ্ডামি বাদ দেন স্যার। যেই জন্য বসানো হইছে সেটা না করে কী কী করছেন এসবের হিসাব দিতে হবে। কে কোথায় কিভাবে কোন কাজে বাধা দিছে এসব খবর আমাদের কাছে আছে। এসব প্রতিবাদের ভং না ধরে কাজটা করেন।”

Translation: “Is protest your job? Stop this hypocrisy, Sir. You must give an account of why you were appointed and what you are actually doing. We know who is obstructing what and where. Instead of acting with fake protests, do your real work.”

Violent Clash in Kakrail

On Friday, August 29, a clash broke out between the Jatiya Party and the Gano Odhikar Parishad in the Kakrail area of Dhaka. During the confrontation, several people, including Nurul Haque Nur, were injured.

Interim Government Reacts

Reacting to the incident, Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary of Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, condemned the attack, calling it shameful. He assured that the matter will not be ignored:

He said that the attack on Nur will be properly investigated, and justice will be ensured.
