“Students Skip School to Welcome Leaders— Sarjis Urges Them to Focus on Education”

Students Skip School to Welcome Leaders

As part of the ongoing “July March to Build the Nation” program, NCP’s central leaders reached the Hatboalia market area in Chuadanga on Wednesday (9 July) around 12:30 PM. There, many school students stood in rows wearing their uniforms to greet the leaders warmly.

However, one of the NCP’s central organizers for the northern region, Sarjis Alam, expressed concern when he noticed students skipping school just to see the leaders.

From a car, while exchanging greetings with local activists, Sarjis launched the district’s march and said:

“তোমাদের এখন স্কুলে থাকার কথা। ক্লাস ফেলে এখানে আসা একদম ঠিক হয়নি। পড়াশোনা বাদ দিয়ে আমাদের দেখতে আসা তোমাদের কাজ না।”
(“You should be in school right now. It’s not right to skip class to come here. It’s not your job to stop studying just to see us.”)

Sarjis was moved by the students’ gesture in spite of his reservations and added:

“তোমাদের এই ভালোবাসা দেখে আমার হৃদয় কেঁপে উঠেছে। আমরা যেন এই ভালোবাসার প্রতিদান দিতে পারি। তোমরা মন দিয়ে পড়াশোনা করো।”
(“Your love has truly touched my heart. I hope we can repay it. Please focus on your studies.”)

Leaders Present at the Program

Several prominent NCP leaders were present during the event, including:

  • NCP Convener Nahid Islam

  • Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain

  • Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam

  • Hasnat Abdullah

  • Dr. Tasnim Jara

  • Along with other district and upazila-level organizers

The “July March” campaign is part of a broader initiative aimed at engaging with the people directly. However, the incident also highlighted the importance of prioritizing education over political enthusiasm—especially for school-going children.
