Sudden Death of Journalist Tariqul Shibli Casts a Shadow of Grief

A tragic incident took place during the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Daksu) election coverage. Journalist Tariqul Shibli (40), a city reporter of Channel S Television, died suddenly while performing his duty inside Curzon Hall.

Collapsed on Duty

On Tuesday (September 9) around 1:30 PM, Tariqul Shibli was reporting live from Curzon Hall. Suddenly, he collapsed and lost consciousness. His colleagues immediately rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s emergency unit, where doctors declared him dead.

Police and Doctors’ Statement

Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp, confirmed the death. He said that the body has been kept in the hospital morgue and the concerned police station has been informed.

Doctors mentioned that his death is suspected to be caused by a cardiac arrest. However, the exact reason will be confirmed after the autopsy report.
