BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said :
“এখন সময় এসেছে সবাই মিলে দেশ গড়ার। আমরা সবাই মিলে এমন একটা বাংলাদেশ গড়ব যে বাংলাদেশের স্বপ্ন দেখেন একজন মা। আমরা দেশের শান্তি চাই।”
Translation : “Now the time has come to build the country together. We will all together build such a Bangladesh that a mother dreams of. We want peace in the country.”
He said this on Thursday (25 December) afternoon at a reception programme held at the 300 Feet area of Purbachal in the capital.
Tarique Rahman said :
“আপনারা দেখেছেন, গত ১৫ বছর মা, বোন, তরুণ প্রজন্ম কীভাবে নিজেদের জীবন উৎসর্গ করেছে। জুলাই যোদ্ধা, সময়ের সাহসী সন্তানকে হত্যা করেছে। ওসমান হাদিসহ যারা শহীদ হয়েছে যদি তাদের প্রত্যাশিত দেশ গড়তে পারি তাহলে দেশ গড়া সম্ভব। ধৈর্য ধরতে হবে। বিশেষ করে তরুণ প্রজন্মকে এগিয়ে এসে সবাই ঐক্যবদ্ধভাবে কাজ করতে হবে।”
Translation : “You have seen how over the last 15 years mothers, sisters and the young generation have sacrificed their lives. July fighters, brave sons of the time, were killed. If we can build the country that those who were martyred, including Osman Hadi, expected, then building the country is possible. We must have patience. Especially the young generation must come forward and everyone must work together in unity.”
At the beginning of his speech he said,
“প্রথমেই আমি রাব্বুল আলামীনের দরবারে হাজারো লক্ষ-কোটি শুকরিয়া আদায় করছি, অশেষ রহমতে প্রিয় মাতৃভূতিমেক ফিরে আসতে পেরেছি আপনাদের মাঝে।”
Translation : “First of all, I express thousands and millions of thanks to Rabbul Alamin, by His endless mercy I have been able to return to my beloved motherland among you.”

Tarique Rahman said,
“৭১ এ দেশের মানুষ যেমন স্বাধীনতা অর্জন করেছিল ২০২৪ সালে তেমন সর্বস্তরের মানুষ, সবাই মিলে এ দেশের স্বাধীনতা ও সার্বভৌমত্বকে রক্ষা করেছিল। বাংলাদেশের মানুষ কথা বলার অধিকার ফিরে পেতে চায়। তারা তাদের গণতন্ত্রের অধিকার ফিরে পেতে চায়।”Translation : “Just as the people of this country achieved independence in 71, in 2024 people of all walks of life together protected the independence and sovereignty of this country. The people of Bangladesh want to regain the right to speak. They want to get back their democratic rights.”
He said,
“এ দেশে পাহাড়ের, সমতলের, মুসলমান, হিন্দু বৌদ্ধ, খ্রিস্টান সবাই আছে। আমরা নিরাপদ বাংলাদেশ গড়ে তুলতে চাই। যে বাংলাদেশে একজন নারী, পুরুষ, শিশু যেই হোক না কেন নিরাপদে ঘর থেকে বের হলে, যেন নিরাপদে ফিরতে পারে।”
Translation : “In this country there are people from the hills and plains, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians. We want to build a safe Bangladesh. A Bangladesh where whether it is a woman, a man or a child, whoever it is, if they leave home safely, they can return safely.”
Speaking about martyr Osman Hadi, the BNP Acting Chairman said,
“ওসমান হাদি চেয়েছিলেন এদেশের মানুষ অর্থনৈতিক অধিকার ফিরে পাক। ৭১ এ যারা শহীদ হয়েছে, ২৪ এ যারা শহীদ হয়েছে তাদের রক্তের ঋণ শোধ করতে হলে প্রত্যাশিত বাংলাদেশ গড়ে তুলতে হবে।”
Translation : “Osman Hadi wanted the people of this country to regain their economic rights. To repay the debt of blood of those who were martyred in 71 and those who were martyred in 24, we must build the Bangladesh they expected.”
He said,
“তরুণ প্রজন্মই আগামীতে দেশ গড়ে তুলবে। গণতান্ত্রিক, শক্তিশালী অর্থনৈতিক ভিত্তির ওপর দেশকে গড়ে তুলতে হবে। আমরা দেশের শান্তি চাই।”
Translation : “The young generation will build the country in the future. The country must be built on a democratic and strong economic foundation. We want peace in the country.”
Earlier, at around 11:30am, the Bangladesh Airlines flight ‘BG 202’ carrying Tarique Rahman landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
On this day, after crossing the airport VIP lounge, the BNP Acting Chairman touched the ground and breathed in the free air of the country.
