Bangladesh is currently experiencing disorder in all sectors. Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of the BNP, has stated that only the people and democracy can stop all conspiracies against the country.
He made these remarks on Sunday (7 December) afternoon at the closing ceremony of the program “BNP’s Plan to Build the Nation” held at the Institute of Agricultural Scientists Auditorium in Khamarbari, Dhaka. Tarique Rahman said,
“দেশে যে কোনো মূল্যে দুর্নীতি ও আইনশৃঙ্খলার লাগাম টেনে ধরতে হবে। এই দুই বিষয় সফল না হলে নারী, কৃষি, স্বাস্থ্যখাত নিয়ে সব পরিকল্পনা ভেস্তে যাবে। দুর্নীতির লাগাম টেনে ধরা একমাত্র বিএনপির পক্ষেই সম্ভব.”
Translation: “Corruption and lawlessness must be controlled at any cost in the country. Unless these two issues are successfully addressed, all plans concerning women, agriculture, and health will fail. Controlling corruption is only possible through the BNP.”
He further added,
“স্বৈরাচারের মতো কিছু মানুষ বিএনপিকে এখন সমালোচনা করছে। অথচ বিএনপির সরকারের তাদের দুইজন লোক ছিল। সেই দুইজন শেষদিন পর্যন্ত সরকারে থাকা প্রমাণ করে খালেদা জিয়ার কোন দুর্নীতির বিরুদ্ধে অবস্থান পরিষ্কার। বিএনপির বিরুদ্ধে উত্থাপিত কোন অভিযোগই আদালতে প্রমাণ হয়নি”
Translation: “Some people, similar to dictators, are now criticizing the BNP. Yet, during the BNP government, they had two people in our administration. That they remained until the end proves that there was no corruption against Khaleda Zia. None of the allegations against the BNP have been proven in court.”

Regarding the formation of a national government, the BNP Acting Chairman said,
“স্বৈরাচার পতনের দিন মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল জানতে চেয়েছিলেন, জাতীয় সরকার গঠন করা হবে কি না। সেদিন আমরা বলেছিলাম, আমরা জনগণের কাছে যাবো, জনগণের রায় মাথা পেতে নেবো। কারণ আমরা মনে করি, জনগণই আমাদের ক্ষমতার উৎস, তাই জনগণের সামনে গিয়ে আমরা দাঁড়াবো।”
Translation: “On the day of the dictator’s fall, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul asked whether a national government would be formed. We replied that we would go to the people and accept their verdict because we believe the people are the source of our power, so we will stand before them.”
He also said,
“যারা বলে অন্য রাজনৈতিক দলগুলোকে দেখেছেন, এবার আমাদের দেখুন, তাদেরকে মানুষ ১৯৭১ সালে দেখেছে। কীভাবে তারা লক্ষ লক্ষ মানুষ হত্যা করেছে, মা-বোনের ইজ্জত লুন্ঠন করেছে।”
Translation: “Those who say ‘look at other political parties’—people have already seen them in 1971. How they killed millions, violated the dignity of mothers and sisters.”
On giving tickets in politics, Tarique Rahman said,
Translation: “Only Allah is the owner of heaven and hell. Those who claim otherwise are committing shirk (associating partners with God). Only the Creator has the authority to decide who goes where in the afterlife.”
Additionally, he mentioned that the BNP expects an election within the next two months.
