Content creator Tawhid Afridi is facing serious pressure after the political group July Revolutionary Alliance (JRA) issued a strong ultimatum to the government demanding his arrest. JRA claimed that Tawhid Afridi was involved in financial support not only during the current government’s time but also during the August 15 Awami League campaign. Meanwhile, Tawhid Afridi’s father, Nasir Uddin, who is the chairman of My TV, has already been arrested in a murder case filed under the anti-discrimination movement.
JRA Issues Strong Ultimatum to the Government
On Sunday (August 17), JRA made a Facebook post demanding the arrest of Tawhid Afridi. According to the post, Afridi allegedly played a role in financing political activities during sensitive times.

“স্বরাষ্ট্র উপদেষ্টা মহোদয় এবং ডিএমপি কমিশনার মহোদয়, জুলাই রেভ্যুলেশনারি অ্যালায়েন্স, প্রাইভেট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ন্যাশনাল অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব বাংলাদেশ (পুনাব) এবং জুলাই ঐক্যসহ অন্যান্য জুলাইর সংগঠনগুলোর পক্ষ থেকে আফ্রিদিকে গ্রেফতারের জন্য আর মাত্র ২৬ ঘণ্টা বাকি। আফ্রিদি বাংলাদেশেই আছে। এই ছবিটি গতকালের। কোনো নাটক চলবে না, সোজাসাপ্টা গ্রেফতার করতে হবে।”
Translation: “Honorable Home Affairs Advisor and DMP Commissioner, on behalf of July Revolutionary Alliance, Private University National Association of Bangladesh (PUNAB), July Unity, and other July organizations, only 26 hours remain to arrest Afridi. Afridi is in Bangladesh. This photo is from yesterday. No drama will be accepted; he must be directly arrested.”

Arrest of Afridi’s Father – My TV Chairman
On the same day, police arrested Afridi’s father Nasir Uddin, who is the chairman of My TV. He was taken into custody from Gulshan, Dhaka, in connection with a murder case filed under the anti-discrimination movement at Jatrabari Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Relations Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrest and said:
“যাত্রাবাড়ী থানার একটি হত্যা মামলায় তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে পুলিশ।”
Translation: “Police have arrested him in a murder case filed at Jatrabari Police Station.”
Murder Case Filed Against 25 People
The murder case dates back to September 1 of last year, filed by a man named Md. Zainal Abedin at Jatrabari Police Station. The case included 25 accused, along with 150 unidentified individuals.

The main accused in the case is former autocratic ruler Sheikh Hasina.

Second accused: Former Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

Third accused: Former Inspector General of Police Abdullah Al Mamun.

Eleventh accused: Touhid Afridi.

Growing Pressure on Afridi
With the arrest of his father and an ultimatum from JRA, the demand for Tawhid Afridi’s arrest is gaining serious attention. Many observers believe that law enforcement may soon face strong pressure to take immediate action.
