The police arrested a boy in his teens on suspicion of having killed two women in Shewrapara of Mirpur. They were his two aunts. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner Nasirul Islam informed on behalf of the Media Center of the DMP on May 12.
The boy Golam Rabbani came to his aunt’s residence last Friday to collect money to buy a bicycle. In a moment of split-second opportunity, he was also pilfering money from the bedroom almirah. When his one aunt spotted him looting and cautioned him to inform everyone about it, he was infuriated and stabbed her with a knife. The second aunt was also around and witnessed the scene and so he stabbed her as well.
He hit their heads with a stone grinder to test if they were dead.
The suspect was identified by the police using CCTV camera footage and was arrested. The victims’ family lodged a murder case against him at Mirpur Model Police Station.
