The poorest areas in Dhaka is Mirpur, Paltan has the lowest poverty rate

The poorest areas in Dhaka are Vasantek and Mirpur. According to data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), Paltan in Dhaka has the lowest percentage of people living below the poverty line, at 1%. The second-lowest percentage of people living in poverty is found in Dhanmondi.

Among the places that are anticipated to have the fewest poor inhabitants, Dhanmondi comes in second place with 1.5% of the population living below the poverty line, followed by Gulshan (3.2%), Mohammadpur (4.6%), Rampura (6.3%), Badda (7.4%), Banani (11.3%), and Mirpur (12.9%). The national poverty rate is 19.2%, but the total poverty rate in the Dhaka district is 19.6%. The poverty rate is higher in rural areas (20.3%). With 54.4% of its population living below the poverty line, Madaripur district has the greatest poverty rate, while Noakhali has the lowest, with only 6.1% of its inhabitants living below the poverty level. With a startling 63.2% of the population living below the poverty line, Dasar in Madaripur is the poorest upazila overall.

The statistics highlight the ongoing economic hardships experienced by many in Bangladesh, along with the sharp disparities between wealthy and poor areas in the capital and across the country.
