At a press conference held at the Secretariat on Monday (July 21), Adviser on Liberation War Affairs Faruk-e-Azam clearly stated that no quota facility in government jobs will be provided to the families of those killed and injured in the July mass uprising.
When asked whether there will be a quota in government jobs for the family members of those killed and injured in the July Uprising, the Liberation War Affairs Advisor said, “No, there will be no quota.”
The advisor said,
‘আমাদের মন্ত্রণালয়ের পক্ষ থেকে তাদের (গণ-অভ্যুত্থানে হতাহত) পুনর্বাসনের কর্মসূচিগুলো নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে। সে অনুসারে মন্ত্রণালয় যাবতীয় কার্যক্রম গ্রহণ করবে। এই কার্যক্রমের ভেতরে ফ্ল্যাট দেওয়া বা চাকরির কোটা দেওয়া, এসব বিষয় নেই। পুনর্বাসনের কর্মসূচি আছে, পুনর্বাসন নানানভাবে হতে পারে। তাদের প্রশিক্ষণ দিয়ে, যার যার যোগ্যতা অনুযায়ী তিনি যেভাবে পুনর্বাসিত হতে চান বা আত্মকর্মসংস্থানের জন্য যদি হাঁস-মুরগি বা পশু পালন করেন, যেভাবে তিনি তার জীবিকা সংস্থান করতে চাইবেন সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে সে ধরনের ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করা হবে।’
Translation: “Our ministry has determined the rehabilitation programs for them (victims of the mass uprising). The ministry will take all the activities accordingly. There are no issues like providing flats or job quotas within this program. There are rehabilitation programs, rehabilitation can be done in various ways. By training them, according to their qualifications, the way they want to be rehabilitated or if they want to earn their living by raising poultry or animals for self-employment, the government will take such measures.”

Many have asked the question of whether the government grant amount for the July fighters will be set at the same level as the freedom fighters and recognized as their equals.
Advisor Faruk-e-Azam said,
‘মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের প্রসঙ্গে এখানে না আসা উচিত, মুক্তিযোদ্ধারা মহান। তাদের অবদান অনস্বীকার্য।’
Translation: “The freedom fighters should not be mentioned here. The freedom fighters are great. Their contribution is undeniable.”
