“Trump Is Working for Peace” — Putin

Speaking to reporters, Putin said,

“Trump is definitely making an effort and working on these issues — on achieving peace and resolving complex international affairs. The clearest example of that is the situation in the Middle East.”

The Kremlin leader added,

“Whether the current U.S. president deserves the Nobel Prize or not, I don’t know. But he is truly doing a lot to resolve complex crises that have dragged on for years, even decades.”

Criticism of the Nobel Committee

Putin used the opportunity to criticize the Nobel Committee, accusing it of eroding the credibility of one of the world’s most prestigious honors. He also accused the Nobel Committee of awarding its peace prize to “people who did nothing for peace.”

His remarks came just hours after the Nobel Committee named María Corina Machado, the Venezuelan opposition leader, as the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize recipient a choice Moscow reportedly disapproved of due to her anti-regime activism in Latin America.

Putin told reporters,

“In my view, those decisions have done enormous damage to the prize’s reputation,”

Moreover on that day, Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov had told state media that Moscow would welcome a Nobel win for Trump.
