In Rajshahi, a local leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP) received a death threat when miscreants left a coffin cloth and a handwritten note in front of his house. The incident also involved an attempt to set his house on fire with petrol. Police are investigating the case.
Incident Overview
Miscreants have threatened Khalid Hasan Milu, a member of the NCP’s Rajshahi District Coordination Committee and former organiser of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, by leaving a piece of coffin cloth and a threatening note in front of his home in Dhurail village, Mohonpur upazila, Rajshahi.
The note:
“প্রস্তুত হ রাজাকার। বাপ-মায়ের দোয়া নে। তোদের দিন শেষ। জয় বাংলা, জয় বঙ্গবন্ধু।”
Translation: “Be ready, collaborator. Take your parents’ blessings. Your days are over. Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu.”

Attempt to Set the House on Fire
On Saturday night, the attackers allegedly poured petrol around the house and tried to set it on fire.
Khalid Hasan Milu said that at around 11:30 PM, shortly after returning home, he heard an unfamiliar voice outside his window saying: “Come outside and see.”
When he stepped onto the balcony, he saw flames burning on a wooden beam attached to a tin wall, and the smell of petrol filled the air.
Coffin Cloth and Note Discovered
Milu explained that he first called his neighbours instead of going out immediately. The night guard from Dhurail Bazar also arrived. When they checked outside, they found a polythene bag. Upon police arrival, the bag was opened, revealing the coffin cloth and the threatening note.
He added that heavy rain had kept the surroundings wet, preventing the fire from spreading. They managed to extinguish the flames before major damage occurred.
“চিরকুটে ‘জয় বাংলা’ লেখা থাকায় কারা এর সঙ্গে জড়িত, তা অনুমান করা কঠিন নয়।”
Translation: “Since the note said ‘Joy Bangla’, it is not hard to guess who might be involved.”
Reaction from NCP
Nahidul Islam Saju, Joint Coordinator of NCP’s Rajshahi District Coordination Committee, said:
Bangla Quote: “এ ধরনের ঘটনা অত্যন্ত দুঃখজনক ও লজ্জাজনক। আওয়ামী সন্ত্রাসীরা এখনো আমাদের এভাবে হুমকি দিচ্ছে, যা প্রশাসনের ব্যর্থতার প্রমাণ।”
English Translation: “Such incidents are very sad and shameful. Awami terrorists are still threatening us in this way, which proves the failure of the administration.”
Police Statement
Mohonpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ataur Rahman confirmed that police went to the spot after receiving the call at around 11:45 PM. He advised the victim to file a complaint.
“অভিযোগ পেলে আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।”
Translation: “Legal action will be taken if a complaint is filed.”
