A World Champion Lost to Dengue
Hafiz Saifur Rahman Taqi, a three-time world champion Quran reciter who brought honor to Bangladesh through his international achievements, has passed away after being infected with dengue.
He breathed his last on Tuesday morning (October 28) while on life support at Mugda Medical College and Hospital in Dhaka.

Confirmation of Death
His teacher and the founder of Markazut Tahfiz, Hafiz Qari Sheikh Nesar Ahmad An-Nasiri, confirmed the heartbreaking news. Said,
“Hafiz Taqi was the pride of our institution. We are deeply saddened by his passing.”

His Education and Achievements
Saifur Rahman Taqi completed his Hifz (memorization of the Quran) from Markazut Tahfiz and went on to win several Quran competitions. At the time of his death, he was studying in the Kitab section at a madrasa in Narayanganj.
He had achieved global recognition by winning Quran recitation competitions in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
In addition, he participated and won in several national Quran competitions, including NTV’s “Qur’aaner Alo” (Light of the Quran).

Battling Dengue Until His Last Breath
After being diagnosed with dengue, Taqi’s condition worsened rapidly. He was admitted to the hospital and later placed on life support. Unfortunately, doctors could not save him.
A Remarkable International Achievement
In 2017, Hafiz Taqi made Bangladesh proud by securing first place at the International Hifzul Quran Competition in Jordan, defeating contestants from 62 countries.
Later, he also triumphed in similar competitions held in Kuwait and Bahrain, earning worldwide respect for his recitation skills.
A Grieving Family and Nation
Taqi was born in 2000 in Dalpa village, Muradnagar, Comilla. His father, Maulana Badiul Alam, is a madrasa teacher.
The family is devastated by his sudden death, while people across Bangladesh and abroad are expressing grief and prayers on social media.
