Bangladesh and US Launch ‘Tiger Lightning 2025’ Joint Military Drill

A six-day long joint military exercise titled ‘Tiger Lightning 2025’ has officially started between the Bangladesh Army and the United States Pacific Army Command. The drill commenced today, Friday (25 July), at the Jalalabad Cantonment in Sylhet.

Opening Ceremony Held at Jalalabad Cantonment

The opening ceremony of the exercise was held at the Para Commando Brigade area in Jalalabad. Major General Ascot A. Winter, Deputy Commanding General of the U.S. Pacific Army Command, attended the ceremony as the chief guest.

Exercise Supervised by Both Forces

According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the joint military exercise is being conducted under the joint supervision of the Bangladesh Army’s Para Commando Brigade and the Nevada National Guard from the United States.

The exercise will continue until 30 July 2025.

Strengthening Regional and Global Security Cooperation

The ISPR stated that Bangladesh and the United States have a strong foundation of cooperation in areas like regional and global security, counterterrorism, disaster management, and humanitarian assistance.

Bangladesh remains committed to tackling any global threats, including natural disasters, and continues to work closely with the U.S. and other international partners.

Focus on Tactical Readiness and Teamwork

The ‘Tiger Lightning 2025’ exercise is aimed at boosting mutual cooperation, enhancing joint tactical capabilities, and strengthening operational readiness.

A total of 66 personnel from the U.S. Nevada National Guard and 100 personnel from Bangladesh’s Para Commando Brigade are taking part in the drill.

Improving Professional Skills and Bilateral Relations

ISPR highlighted that this joint exercise will play an important role in improving the professional skills of participating soldiers. It will also further strengthen the existing relationship between the armies of Bangladesh and the United States.

High-Level Officials Attend the Event

From the Bangladesh Army, officials present at the opening ceremony included the Director of Air Defence, the Director of Military Training, and the Commander of the Para Commando Brigade.
