Cause of the Accident

“We believe the driver fell asleep, which caused the vehicle to lose control and fall into the canal.”
He added:
“Some passengers managed to get out, but seven got stuck inside and died.”

Before the police and fire service arrived, locals rushed to the scene thinking the passengers might still be alive. They tried to rescue them and took them to nearby hospitals. Unfortunately, it was too late for the seven victims.
“Locals, thinking they were alive, took them to hospitals before we were informed.”
The highway police later recovered the microbus and kept it at Chandraganj Highway Police Station.
