A tragic plane crash in India’s Ahmedabad has shocked the nation as an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner carrying 242 passengers crashed shortly after takeoff. Fears of multiple casualties loom.
An Air India aircraft carrying 242 passengers has crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday (June 12) afternoon in a residential area called Meghani, according to reports from NDTV.
The report states that the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner belonging to Air India crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The flight, designated AI-171, was en route to Gatwick Airport in London.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of casualties, but there are growing concerns that the crash may have resulted in multiple injuries or fatalities.
Eyewitnesses report seeing thick plumes of grey smoke rising from the crash site. Several ambulances have already reached the area, and bystanders observed injured individuals being transported to nearby hospitals. Police have cordoned off the area, suspending all traffic around the crash site.
