Md. Morshed Hossain (40), a businessman from Banglamotor in Dhaka, lost his life in a tragic road accident on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Feni’s Rampur area. A total of three people were killed in the accident that occurred early Sunday (March 22).
According to eyewitnesses, a traffic jam was created on the road after an ambulance and a bus collided. In that situation, another speeding bus lost control and ran over the traffic jam. Morshed and three others died on the spot.
The price of humanity: sacrificing one’s life to save others
The most heartbreaking aspect of the incident is that after the first accident, Morshed Hossain was getting out of the car and taking his wife and children and other passengers to a safe place. At that moment, a speeding bus came and ran over the traffic jam, and he lost his life there.
Promises remain unfulfilled
It is learned that Morshed was going to Cox’s Bazar to see the sea with his wife and younger daughter after the Eid celebrations. He had planned this trip to fulfill his daughter’s long-standing wish. But that joyous journey was stopped on the way—he returned dead.

Wife’s sobs in front of the morgue: The atmosphere became heavy
Wife Runa Akhter was seen crying heartbreakingly while waiting for her husband’s body in front of the morgue of Feni General Hospital.
She said,
‘রাফার আব্বু ওঠো। রাফার কী হইবো, আয়ানার কী হইবো, আমার কী হইবো? তুমি না থাকলে তোমার মা আমাকে ঘর থেকে বের করে দেবে। তুমি তো কিছুই বলে গেলে না।’
Translation: He kept saying, “Rafa’s father, get up. What will happen to Rafa, what will happen to Ayana, what will happen to me? If you don’t come, your mother will throw me out of the house. You didn’t say anything.”
Her cries filled the hospital premises with a heavy atmosphere. Relatives and common people present also shed tears.
Morshed Hossain was a well-known businessman at Farhad Auto Market in Dhaka’s Bangla Motor area. He was also well-known as the owner of ‘Morshed Motors’.
Preparations for burial
The body of the deceased has been recovered and kept at the Feni General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Morshed’s long-time friend Md. Sumon said,
‘এভাবে মোরশেদের চলে যাওয়া মেনে নিতে পারছি না। তার ছোট দুই মেয়ে আর স্ত্রী কীভাবে বাঁচবে, সেটাই ভাবাচ্ছে এখন। খবর পেয়ে ঢাকা থেকে ফেনীতে এসেছি। মরদেহ নিয়ে ঢাকায় গিয়ে গোসল ও জানাজার প্রস্তুতি নেওয়া হয়েছে। ঢাকার বাংলামোটর এলাকায় প্রথম জানাজা অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। পরে মরদেহ নেওয়া হবে তাঁর রংপুরের পীরগাছা উপজেলার নিজ গ্রামের বাড়িতে। সেখানে দ্বিতীয় জানাজা শেষে পারিবারিক কবরস্থানে দাফন করা হবে।’
Translation: “I cannot accept Morshed’s passing away like this. I am now wondering how his two younger daughters and wife will survive. I came from Dhaka to Feni after receiving the news. Preparations have been made to take the body to Dhaka for a bath and a funeral. The first funeral will be held in Dhaka’s Bangla Motor area. Later, the body will be taken to his village home in Pirgachha Upazila of Rangpur. There, after the second funeral, he will be buried in the family graveyard.”
